Difference between WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG

So, you come here that means you are also confused like me about this two term one is WordPress.ORG and the other is WordPress.COM. Before writing this post I was also confused about this two. But as I have done a lot of research about this two I can now easily make difference between this two topic.

In short, WordPress or WordPress.org is the free, Open Source web publishing software project, owned by no one individual or company. On the other hand WordPress.com is a hosted blogging service run by a company called Automattic. To make this more clear for you I can say that WordPress.ORG is a software which you can install in any hosting providing company’s C Panel to create website easily. on the other hand WordPress.COM itself a hosting provider which allows you to host your website from their server using the WordPress software.

I think you have already got your answare about wordpress.org or WordPress and wordpress.com. Lets figure more about this two topic individually.

WordPress.ORG or WordPress

So, wordpress.org a.k.a. the real WordPress is a open source free CMS software. You can download for free and install it on any hosting provider to make a website quite very easy way.

In 2003 as a fork of b2/cafelog WordPress started started its journey. It is Licensed under the GPL, which means you are free to use WordPress without restriction. Sites powered by WordPress may have a “Proudly powered by WordPress” credit, or they may have no credit at all.

So, you can see that if you use if you want to use wordpress.com it may be not good for you because you will not get full control. But if you do not want to manage the security and control by your own you can host your site to the wordpress.com.
