As you have finished our first tutorial about blogger , I am assuming that you know how to create a free blogger account. Also you have created a blogger account. If you do not create an account yet, then go and see our first part -“Blogger Tutorial part one : How to Create a blogger account?” if you do not know how to create an account in blogger.
So, as you have seen the first tutorial you can now create a blogger account. Now, head toward the second part : here we will learn about the blogger dashboard. We will give the introduction of all the tools of blogger dashboard and also discuss about their works.
Lets start from the end where we left our tutorial in our previous part. In our last part , we left our tutorial at the Dashboard section. If you have lost your dashboard then just go to Blogger and then login with your google account by which you were previously logged in to create your blogger account.
After you log in with your account you will redirect to your blogger account dashboard. Now lets introduce you with this blogger dashboard :
Before introducing you to the blogger dashboard , lets divide the dashboard which will make this tutorial easier to you.
Sections of a blogger dashboard :
Basically, a blogger dashboard is divided into three sections – one is the Top Bar another is the Menu Bar and the last one is Side Bar.
Top Bar :
Normally, top bar is not related to your blog. This bar does not contains any of your own blog related information. This bar has 2 section : left section and right section. In left section, there remains the Blogger icon and in the right section you will be able to see another two section. Left side’s section has a icon which allows you to move you another google apps like – map, keep, drive etc. and the right icon is for the switching account .
[NB. This top bar is not necessary for you blog related works ]
Menu Bar :
You will find this menu Bar just under the Top Bar section. This bar has four parts. Lets introduce these four from the left side – the first part which is at the left side of the menu bar is ” New Post ” button , the second one is the name of your blogger account, third one is ” Label selecting option ” and finally the fourth one is ” The search bar “.
New Post :
This button is for the easiest access of your blog writing section. with the help of this button you can easily access your post editor to write posts.
name of your blogger account :
This part shows you by which name you are using the blogger platform.
Label selecting option :
Here you can select the label of your post which will be appear on this post page.
The search bar :
If you want to edit a particular post then you can use the search the post using this search bar to find the post in a very easy way.
Side Bar :
This is the most important section of your blog. With the help of this bar you can do anything to your blog. Because this section holds all the core section parts of your blog such as –
- Blog list
- View blog
- Reading List
- Help & Feedback
Blog list :
In this section you will be able to see all of your blog. You can switch to your different blogs from here to write new posts. Also you can create new blogs from here.
View blog :
By using this button you can view your blog.
Under this menu there are two more sub-menus :
This menu counts the number of posts in your blog including the draft section.
This menu only counts the posts has been published from your blog.
In this section you will be able to see you site’s statistics including – follower count , post count, comment count, total page views, last post views etc.
All you comments will be recorded here.
If you think your site is qualified for earning from google Adsense then you can apply for google Adsense account from this menu. If you do not know the google Adsense eligibility then see this eligibility requirements for the google Adsense account for your blog.
Under this menu there are two more sub-menus :
This menu counts the number of pages in your blog including the draft section.
This menu only counts the pages has been published from your blog.
In this section you will be able to customise your template by adding and removing different kinds of gadgets. This may differ from templates to templates.
This is the section from where you can upload new themes and backup your old themes. You can also customise your theme here with the bloggers visual editor. Also you can edit the html of your theme from here.
This is the most Sensitive section of your blogger back end. Try to avoid changing anything from this section if you do not know much about that. This part is consists of seven sub sections –
- Posts, comments and sharing
- Language and formatting
- Search preferences
- User settings
- Reading List
- Help And preference
Bloggers basic settings has 4 sections like- Basic, Publishing, HTTPS and permissions.
In this sub menu you can edit your blog name , Description and privacy. Here privacy settings means you can control your sites visibility with this settings – either you can visible it to search engine or hide from the search engines.
This Settings can be used to change the blog domain name.
If you want to enable and disable your site’s https redirect you can do it from here.
When HTTPS Redirect is turned off – visitors to will be served over HTTP, an unencrypted connection. If HTTPS Redirect is turned on – Visitors will be served over HTTPS, an encrypted connection. Learn more about unencrypted and encrypted connection following this link.
In this settings you can set permissions for the readers and writers. You can either set the readers for only the authors, readers or public. you can also add new authors from here.
Posts, comments and sharing :
This is the section from where you can limit your posts in your home page. Comment section and type and also set rules for whom you want to comment in your post.
If you want to publish post through email in your site then you can set it up from here.
Language and formatting :
You can manage your site’s language, enable or disable translation, formatting time zone etc.
Search preferences :
This is the most sensitive part for the blogger . Any incorrect entry can effect your site’s SEO. It will be better not to change anything from here without knowing accurately. You can follow the SEO Guideline for blogger to change this settings properly.
Here you can find the import and exporting feature for your blog. With the help of this feature you can import and export videos and audios from your blog.
Also you can delete your blog permanently from here.
